I moved from Michigan to Savannah GA in 2021 for search of new adventure. When moving, i never expected to pursue my interest in jewelry and always thought of it as a hobby to keep for myself. as ive perfected my craft, I realized how deeply i wanted to share with others the excitement of my growth. Creating something of my own and sharing with everyone has been the best adventure i could ask for.
What is electroforming?
Electroforming is a process using acid and electricity to form a thick layer of copper around objects. Anything from fragile bug wings to the hardest stones can be used in the process and each piece will grown a distinctive metal Layer.
How did you start making jewelry?
I started like many jewelry artists i know, making beaded and wire wrapped pieces. that never really spoke to my creativity though. in 2023 i started working for a local electroform jewelry artist Named Tara, owner of Foxlark alchemy. i mainly Helped packing orders and assisting at art markets then transitioned into small production work. I was in awe of how unique this artform was and wanted to try my hand at it. With much Guidance and practice, ive been able to find my style in jewelry.
what's your inspiration?
Moving my body and connecting to nature has always been one of the best ways for me to feel alive and inspired. While spending much of my time outdoors i became a collector of treasures to remember how much i enjoyed being there. Picking up rocks, toys, beach glass, fallen bugs, leaves, or even bones from forgotten animals. these treasures remind me of the feelings connected to the outdoors and how i am human. Preserving these moments feels similar to taking a picture. While I wont be able to live in those moments forever, I can commemorate the time and feelings I experienced While living them.
